This is a recommendation for Corey and his team from a transmission rebuild/replacement they did SIX YEARS AGO! Back in spring of 2009, the transmission on my wife's 2002 Honda Odyssey van started giving out. A Honda dealership gave us a price quote of $5500 to have the transmission fixed. Oof. The next couple places, including an Aamco out this way, gave estimates that were just over $4000, but I did not leave those businesses feeling confident they would stand behind their work, much less do a great job in the first place. So next I went to this "Mr. Transmission" place on Stone Mountain Highway, all the while with serious doubts that a repair shop working under a national chain name could give me a good price quote and/or a feeling of confidence. Wrong, and wrong. Immediately upon walking in, I was greeted by a nice older gentleman who introduced himself and asked what the problem was. He went and got Corey, who he introduced as the owner of the shop. . .AND HIS SON! Corey and I went into his office, which was decorated with numerous pictures of his son's baseball teams (which were all from nearby local leagues). Corey informed me that he himself grew up in this area, and had spent almost his entire life in the area. Needless to say, all of this gave me a positive feeling that Corey (a) was trustworthy and upstanding, and (b) he lived in the same neighborhood where he worked, which means he was more likely to stand behind his work and treat his customers right. Of course, none of those good vibes would've meant a thing if his price quotes were ridiculous, or his transmission work was shoddy. Well, he gave me a quote that was nearly $1000 less than his competitors, and nearly $2000 less than the Honda dealership. Plus, he gave me options to have the transmission guaranteed for 1, 2, or 3 years. I paid a little bit more and chose the 3 year option, and it turns out we didn't need it. My wife has been driving with her rebuilt transmission for over six years now, and we haven't experienced a single problem! Whenever I've passed this Mr. Transmission store on Hwy. 78, I've always thought I should go back and write a positive review. And when I came across Corey's card while cleaning last week, I decided I would do just that! So here it is, my 100% positive review of Corey and his shop. And my review of their work (and my experience) is definitely time-tested!
Thank you so much Nathan! We appreciate your business but we especially appreciate the time you took out of your day to write us a review.
